The Plot
Rise, Rule and Remember takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the universe of the vampire diaries, we've gone a little bit AU. Elena never turned around to go back to Stefan, She kept driving to Damon but she never made it. There was an accident severely injuring she and Matt. She was taken from the wreckage by Klaus Mikaelson.
Klaus brought her to New Orleans after he was transported into the body of one of Marcel's Night Walkers in the spell that went wrong (Or more a spell that was interfered with by Davina's magic unintentionally). Upon seeing what happened in New Orleans, Klaus was able to see that the city was thriving without him and his 'Son' was still alive, and running the city, and so with Elena in tow so that he might continue to use her to create hybrids, Klaus uprooted himself, Elijah and a very angry Rebekah to New Orleans.
One such hybrid was Dexter Reilly. Dexter is a military man from a military family. He was born a werewolf and made hybrid by Klaus. The Reilly family is connected to the line of Hayley Marshall's relatives. This is not yet known.
In the Bayou of New Orleans, is a mother and daughter that run a network of sanctuaries. The latest being in New Orleans. They are called Emilia and Sophia Ulisse. They offer protection, love, and family to those that would otherwise be lost.
Hayley Marshall has become pregnant with the child of Klaus Mikaelson (Which happened a little sooner in our timeline). She has fears that his intentions for the child are less than pure and wishes to leave New Orleans. However, she is unable to do so. A coven of witches from the French Quarter have placed a spell upon the wolf-girl that prevents her from leaving. She was also linked to a witch in the coven.
If Hayley wants to free herself, she'll need help. Elena can offer such help in the form of Bonnie Bennett but only if Hayley will help her in return. She needs to make contact with Damon .. he needs to know that she was coming to him, that she'd chosen him but that she'd been taken along the way and hasn't been able to get free.
If Hayley will agree to help Elena, Elena in return promises to have Bonnie undo whatever hex is forbidding her from leaving New Orleans as well as the one connecting her to a different witch.
In other news: Jeremy and Bonnie were never together. He is still completely in love with Anna but Elena's words have continued to echo through his mind "Are you going to love a ghost for the rest of your life?"
His answer became a no. He wouldn't love a ghost, he'd love Anna. Vicki had come back once with the help of a very powerful witch before Bonnie had sent her back. If he could find one strong enough, Anna could be brought back just as Vicki had been. The only witch strong enough to bring down the veil without harming themselves in the process is a teenage girl named Davina. Jeremy will have to find her, befriend her, and convince her that bringing down the veil is the right course of action.
In New Orleans Klaus has discovered that Marcel is alive (a vampire that he raised up from an abused and abandoned child before turning him) . Marcel has everything that Klaus could ever want. A home, family. followers, loyalty, love, respect. Klaus wants this for himself but can not win Marcel's followers for himself. Instead, he needs to create more hybrids - people that will be loyal only to him because of the sirebond. He has been using Elena to do this. He intends to start a war.
Sticking with their brother, Rebekah and Elijah are both trying to keep Hayley safe, Elijah believing that the girl can offer the family the fresh start that he's always wanted for them and Rebekah because she doesn't believe that a child should fall victim to a life where her family is always choosing one battle or another over being there for her.
Kol's motives however are solely his own. His move to New Orleans while it is at Rebekah's request is entirely for his own purposes.
