Just decided to post this so we can talk about the final season of True Blood. Spoilers ahead so YOU BEEN WARNED, XD.
So the first thing I wanted to say is that only one character had a satisfying conclusion to their arc for the show and that was Eric Northman. I loved how the show ended for him and feel that there could be a heck of a lot more to tell when it comes to him. The rest of it was really quite bad. For example... Tara's arc was her "ghost" and we still don't know if it wasn't just made up in the characters heads, all her ghost wanted to do was... make up with her mother? THAT was the big Tara payoff for the season, heck for the series? To be honest, the way the show ended, characters like Tara, her mother and even Lafayette could of been written out of the show since day one and no one would of missed them. Thats part of my problem with Tara, is her character never had any purpose, on top of that, didn't like the character to be honest, Lafayette was at least a fun character who added something to the show.
The biggest problem with this season was Alcide and his death... The payoff for Alcide dying was literally so the show can give all the Bill/Sookie shippers a few more episodes before killing Bill off as well. Sookie's storyline ends with her marrying and having kids with a generic guy, whos name we never learn and whos face we never see... Thats it? That is the best you can come up with for your main character? Instead, they should of never killed Alcide, dropped the Bill/Sookie none sense and let her end up with Alcide. And I am not saying that cause I like Alcide and Sookie, im saying that cause it is a completely rotten end to Sookie's story. We don't even know who the guy is that she gets with, we see the back of his head and thats about it. How is that a satisfying ending for anyone? I'd rather her end up with Bill then with some unnamed random guy.
A lot of characters endings are exactly like this. Generic, plain, boring. The one good ending was Eric's. Eric gets the cure, gets his revenge on Sara Newlin(Who we find out goes crazy and is held prisoner by Eric for the rest of her life and is sad and miserable and I love it), he gets rich and gets almost everything he could ask for. Sure he probably isn't happy in the love department, but overall, at least his ending had some substance to it. I'd say this season was kind of meh and not a very good ending to a very good show. They could of done so much more with these characters and honestly, I would of much more preferred to see all of them die then most of the cookie cutter endings we got. I mean, isn't the goal of a show for the good guys to have a happy ending and the bad guys to just be miserable? The season didn't even accomplish that.
