It had been a few days since Connor stumbled to her very doorstep half dead scaring her half to death. If he had died, she would of done everything she could to bring him back, just so she could kill him herself. However, the man of Rebekah's dreams, Connor survived his encounter with the vampires and the two eventually finally told each other those three very special words. I love you. It wasn't the first time Rebekah had given her heart to another, but hopefully it was gonna be the last time. As the saying goes, it doesn't matter who you are with first, it matters who you are with last, and Connor was hopefully gonna be Rebekah's last.

Every day that passed Rebekah had expected the trouble to follow Connor to her doorstep, but it hadn't come yet. Maybe there were no vampires on Connors trail? At least that was Rebekah's vague hope. As Connor, recovered from the incident, it gave Rebekah the chance to play nurse, and she was very very good at it. In fact, she felt that she was spoiling Connor rotten. However she didn't want Connor to get the idea that he can pull a stunt like he did again and there will be no repercussions for it. Nope, in fact, she was initially very pissed at him for nearly getting himself killed, however once she got over that, all she wanted to do was love on him.

Connor was almost completely healed by now, which kind of saddened Rebekah. It meant that he would soon return to his quest, and only visit her between hunts. Call her selfish, but she wished that she could spend every day all day with the man, but she knew he had to do what he had to do. Maybe someday his quest would be finished and he can be all hers to do with what she pleased. For now, she had his attention, and she was gonna milk it for all it was worth. They were gonna have a picnic in the woods near her house. Rebekah had the basket all packed and she waited patiently in the living room of her house for Connor. "Hurry up, and get dressed!" She called up to him. Of course she knew why he was naked in the first place, and the thought made her giggle. She wondered what the point of him getting dressed was, seeing as she would just rip them off of him later anyways.

There had been many hairy moments in this realm since he and his family had stepped through into it centuries before. There had been the night not long after that when Fionn had taken a blade during a fight with a den of vampires. Their father had sat with her for two days and nights until they were sure she would survive, and the time his brother had disappeared for almost an entire week. Of course that had been more to do with Conall’s enjoyment of a fae female he had come across rather than any sort of physical harm. And then there was the night he had stumbled back to his nymph’s doorstep, close to death, bleeding from the dozens of wounds inflicted on him. Connor truly had been resigned to the fact that he was about to die but with great care, and great teasing, his nymph had nursed him back. That night and his recuperation had changed something between them somewhat, the fun becoming something deeper, drawing from them words he had never said to another. There had been a vein of devotion running within him ever since the night he had encountered Rebekah at the falls but being here with her for free days straight had deepened it further still.

Connor was fully aware of just what risk his returning here had posed. The portal he had travelled through from the nest he had dealt with to Mystic Falls had closed after him but all it would have taken was for one vampire not of Rebekah’s kind to find the scent. So far there had been no sign of any finding where he had gone to but Connor had remained vigilant for some sign of trouble. It had only been in the last day that he had begun to relax. His nymph had proven to be a capable nurse and more than capable of drawing him out of the tense moods he had slipped into any time he had thought he had sensed danger lurking out in the woods. Rebekah had always been adept at distraction though. On the occasions he had returned to her home after previous trips out to deal with those harming his kind she had almost convinced him not to return to his mission. Connor had been torn between the two and although this was not the excuse he would have chosen for remaining here for an extended period of time, but he was glad to have been able to stay without feeling guilty, or too guilty at least. As soon as he thought himself sufficiently healed to be able to fight at full strength once more he would return to making his forays, perhaps though, a little more carefully than he had done in the past. Now that he was on his own, not that he had a woman whom he loved waiting for him, he would not take the risks he had done so with his family at his back in the past.

This morning Rebekah had proven adept again at taking his mind off of what he would have been doing had he not woken up in her bed. His fingers had crept up to his throat as he drifted into a less slumberous state, worrying again at the healing wound on his throat. Of course his movement had awakened his nymph and she had given him something else to do with his hands. That of course had resulted in him being late getting ready for the picnic he had promised her for the day. All of the planning had of course been Rebekah’s, his attempts at preparing food were woeful by modern methods. He had, in a most gentlemanly manner of course, offered to carry the basket. Or at least he would be carrying it once he’d jammed his feet into his boots and raced downstairs to head to the woods with her. ”If I’d been able to locate my jeans immediately I would have been halfway to the woods by now,” Connor called down, punctuating his words with a rumble of laughter as he yanked at the laces of his second boot. ”If I had not known better I would have thought you possessed some ulterior motive to hide them from me.” Connor jammed the loose ends of the laces down into his boots, stood and made for the stairs. These days clothing had a tendency to be cast aside with some rapidity and that meant locating it the next morning was not always a simple matter. Slowing as he reached the living room, Connor smiled at Rebekah, extended his hand to take the basket from him. As usual his nymph looked ravishing and she knew it.

Rebekah liked the power that she had over Connor. The fact that she seemed to be the only one that can calm him down. She wondered if that were true, that he was tense with everyone else, including his family, and she was the only one that he relaxed with? Rebekah of course waking up that morning she had only one thing on her mind and that was the warrior that lay in her bed. Connor was slowly becoming her everything, but she knew one thing for certain, and that was that she didn't want to be his excuse. If Connor tried to quit his quest, she would probably try to break up with him. There was no reason that he should consider her more important then his job. No matter how much she wanted him to quit, she wouldn't allow it. She didn't want to be selfish in these regards, but sometimes she couldn't help it, especially when he had nearly died. She wanted to tell him to stop then and there, but she couldn't. She knows how important to him it all is, how important it is to his family.

"Not my fault you can't keep track of your belongings." She called back up to him in jest with a giggle. The truth was Rebekah didn't mean to be such a good hider when it came to his clothes. It was just a happy accident. In the heat of the moment she would just throw them wherever and not even pay attention to where. She guessed Connor didn't much mind where his clothes ended up in those moments either. "Who me?" Rebekah replied back with a gasp, feigning innocence. "Perhaps I do." She said when he finally came down the stairs motioning for her to hand him the basket. She kissed him gently on the lips, handing the basket over to him. Of course she didn't need to eat, she was a vampire, but that didn't stop her from time to time, and she knew Connor needed to eat. He needs it to keep his strength up for more then a few reasons. She took him by the hand and led them to the door.

Opening the door, it was clear that it was a beautiful day out. It wasn't to warm, but it wasn't cold either, and there wasn't a cloud in site. "You look quite handsome today." Rebekah told him honestly as she led them out of the house. Not that she didn't think that Connor didn't look handsome every day. Rebekah just felt that it was best to let him know as often as possible exactly what she thought of him. Rebekah had been wondering a lot lately just how did she get so lucky? It seemed that for the longest time she had been a loser at love. Every guy ended up turning on her or just not caring anymore about her, but not Connor. He was still in her life, he still came to her door, calling her name, like Romeo in a William Shakespear play. Yep, it was safe to say that Rebekah considered herself the luckiest girl in the entire world. There was something that did worry her however. What if Connor wanted a family? She couldn't give him one, she couldn't even get married legally right now, let alone have children. Connor didn't seem like he wanted such things, but then again, she didn't know what he could want after his quest was over with.

Knowing he had become quite so domesticated was a matter of much amusement for Connor. He had spent centuries without the comforts many in this realm took for granted, sleeping in the forests in the way his people had done for thousands of years before his birth, eating what could either be shot or caught. Even when modern conveniences had begun to spring up across the country they had kept up their way of life, still training with weapons of old in the remote regions of this nation where modern life had not yet encroached. Beds were nothing more than mossy hollows, showers the natural water falls of the earth. Connor had been used to it and yet within a few short weeks of meeting his nymph few things still felt accustomed to him. He continued to live that way when he had not been with her but the ground felt hard now, the diet offered by the woods and streams meagre in comparison. Of course being here, spending days and weeks at a time with his nymph would likely leave him slow and fat but for the moment he was unwilling to complain that. Home had never been a place for him, it was the people he was with and the leaving of his father and siblings had left him without one until Rebekah had stepped out of that pool.

He had to admit to himself, the bed had certainly held an attraction and not just in the soft mattress. The attraction had proven distracting to the point today where he had now caused a delay in their outing. It had amazed the fae from the start that his nymph could go from being draped in nothing but a sheet to fully dressed, her mussed hair falling down her back in perfect waves once more in the time it took him to find the strength to peel an eye open. Surely that had to be a sign of him losing his conditioning, soon he would not even be able to leave the bed, not that he imagined that would be a problem for Rebekah. She was the one, he was certain, who had tossed his jeans aside the night before, his t-shirt also. Most of his clothing ended up draped around her room, flags of honour marking exactly what had happened between the two of them. They were enough to make a man proud, as long as he could later find the location of each item when it was needed. Laughter continued to rumble in Connor’s throat as he shook his head, that he knew, his nymph would hear with ease. ”Those last in my possession I can keep track of. I don’t quite have your aim with items.” And of course, he was far too innocent to possess any sort of idea of keeping clothes from her in order to prevent her from wearing them. He would not put that past his nymph however. ”I am wise to your ways,” Connor warned as he rapidly tied the laces of his boots. These would no doubt be off before the hour was out, along with the rest of what he wore now.

One dark brow rose, scepticism etching itself over Connor’s features as he stood before Rebekah, one hand outstretched for the basket. Surely he knew his nymph better than that and she was fully aware of it. ”Perhaps you do?” Connor asked doubtfully before his smile began to grow. ”I am wise to your methods by now.” Narrowing his eyes in warning, Connor still made a sound of contentment as his nymph’s lips found his. ”Still, I cannot say that I would not do the same should the desire arise.” Of course, often there was no need to worry about the arising of such things, they were constantly there. With the basket in one hand and Rebekah gripping the other, Connor biddably allowed himself to be towed to the door and out into the clear light of day. Not as hot as it would grow in a few short weeks but perhaps more pleasant for it. At the compliment from Rebekah, Connor gave a half bow as he strolled outside. ”I would say that love suits me, it has certainly improved my visage.” His brother would’ve said the same in a far less poetic way he suspected. Conall had always possessed a way with words that left his big brother jestingly swinging fists. Squeezing Rebekah’s hand, Connor drew her closer as he strolled towards the woods. ”My nymph’s compliment should be returned. As always she steals my breath with her beauty,” Connor told her, his voice low, his gaze warm as he allowed it to drift over her. He had never been the poetic sort, that truly had been Conall’s gift but Rebekah had wrung words from him he’d never thought possible to speak.

Rebekah knew often in the confusion of the moment that she didn't know where the hell she was throwing his clothes. All she knew was that she had to unburden him of them as quick as possible. It was clear that Connor was only joking with her by the now loud and familiar laughing. Once again Rebekah couldn't help but wonder if he was that... jolly with others or if it was just with her. She wanted to feel special like that, she wanted to be the one that brought out these different sides of him. "My aim is always on point. Now hurry up already." She called up to him with a chuckle. "Unless you want to run out of time and miss out on... dessert " She added with an equally loud laugh in return, and she wasn't referring to the pie in the basket either.

She gladly handed the basket to him. Not that she needed a big strong man to carry things for her, although it did appear to her greatly that he was a gentleman like that. Rebekah was strong, one of the strongest beings that she knew of, so it felt good feeling weak in a mans arms from time to time. Rebekah had always been the sort of girl to enjoy something like that. "Oh really? I didn't hear you complaining last night about my... methods." Rebekah replied with a sly grin. Nope, Connor never complained about her methods and she knew it too. She kissed him again this time on the cheek. "I'm sorry love, I wish I knew where the bloody hell I throw your clothing all the time. I guess it is just a fun little game of hide and seek for you." Rebekah added with a wink. She loved it when they played "hide and seek".

"Should the desire arise?" Rebekah raised an eyebrow at him as she led him to a clearing in the woods. "I would hope that it does. Call me greedy if you like." Rebekah said as she lay the blanket on the ground in the clearing. This looked like a good spot to have the picnic. She sighed happily when he said that love suited him. "It does. Especially when you love something as lovely as me." Rebekah said with a grin. Rebekah wasn't above being a little cocky, after all Connor told her more then enough times that she was breath-taking. Of course that didn't stop Connor from giving that very compliment out once again.

"Thank you, my love, A girl always loves knowing she can take a mans breath away." Rebekah replied. She wasn't sure if this statement applied to all girls, but she knew it applied to her. She wanted to hear stuff like that. She tried to look breathtaking for her man, so it was nice to hear that it had in fact been working. As she sat down on the forest ground in the clearing she motioned for him to set next to her on the blanket. It certainly was an appealing offer if she said so herself. "Sit, babe." She said to him, more of a request then an order. "So, what shell we eat first?" She asked him, waiting for him to open the basket to go through it and see what appealed to him. "Or perhaps some Champagne?" She asked raising an eyebrow. Leave it up to a Mikaelson to want to break into the alcohol right away.

It was obvious to Connor that if he hesitated long enough to getting dressed, pushed along enough about just what Rebekah did in the throws of passion, or at least in the haze of lust that seemed to linger whenever the two of them were in close proximity, there would be a repeat of the previous night’s action. There was only so much control that both of them were capable of and Connor had learned on that first night with his nymph in the pool at the falls that neither one of them were capable of much patience. That shared impulsivity should perhaps have been an issue, too much haste in one place, but for the two of them it was proving to work, at least when he wasn’t getting himself into trouble by charging into nests of vampires alone. ”Dessert will never be missed,” Connor promised, scrambling to finish now. ”Perhaps it should even be eaten before lunch. A little treat first.” Connor was also aware that if he allowed that to happen the actual picnic portion of the proceedings would never go ahead. Whilst there was a great deal of impatience in getting to that point, there was a great deal of patience shown during, which would mean that their feast would happen sometime around midnight. Still, he mused, that might not be all bad, by then a fierce appetite would have been worked up.

A small wicker basket would surely look ridiculous in the hand of a strapping warrior but gentleman as he was Connor would always have made the offer and carried the load, no matter how strong his nymph actually was. He had spent five hundred years testing the strength of vampires but until a few short months ago he had never taken one to his bed. In contrast to Rebekah’s sly grin there was now an attempt at pure innocence on Connor’s, an expression that would be patently false to any who knew him. ”I believe my tongue may have been too occupied with other pursuits to be able to form words at the time,” Connor said, a touch of wickedness in his voice that was in pure contrast to the wide eyes and little boy smile. There was a sound of contentment low in Connor’s throat as he lifted his free hand to thread through the tips of Rebekah’s hair. ”No need for apologies. Clothing can always be found and at times like last night, there are things more important than tidiness … like playing hide and seek.” Laughter rumbled merrily from him as he caught the wink. His nymph had certainly taught him some games in his time here. Most were in some way similar to those from his own realm but there were others that were near baffling to him. Baffling but pleasurable and Rebekah seemed to take a great deal of pride in teaching him those particular ones.

His nymph was always quick to take advantage of a slip in conversation, prying the opportunity wide open. Smothering a grin, Connor happily strolled by his nymph’s side. ”Forgive my misstep, that should have been when the desire arises.” No doubt Rebekah would ensure that would happen. She often only had to breathe for that particular feeling to begin. ”I fear I’m also guilty of that greed, not that there is anything wrong with feeling such things about another.” A low noise rumbled in Connor’s throat as he looked down at her, his affection for his nymph shining in his eyes. ”Something as beautiful and as humble as you,” Connor teased. How much humility lay in the perfect package was never a problem for him, not when he knew she cared for him as he did for her. ”I should tell you more often. I know perhaps sometimes the words do not come readily enough for me.” Feeling faintly self-conscious now he had brought up the subject, Connor sat obediently beside his nymph. At the mention of eating, he of course tugged at the basket, drawing it between them. ”Perhaps both,” Connor suggested wickedly as he began to draw items from the basket. ”Champagne, some fruit fed to a goddess by her humble servant.” He had no doubt that Rebekah had considered that idea already and had packed in accordance with the idea. The champagne bottle was located quickly and Connor had a gleam of wild abandon in his eye as he immediately began to tug the cork free. This was a trick he and his brother had learned long ago in this realm, how to remove such a stopper without drowning themselves and the rest of the family in the fizzing liquid.

She grinned widely when he said dessert would never be missed. Rebekah had to admit that yes...dessert wasn't the only thing that mattered in a relationship, but it was one thing she certainly couldn't live without when it came to Connor. Perhaps it was because his brand of dessert was always so wonderful that she wanted and wanted it often. "Oh, sorry darling, but if we have dessert first, it would ruin your lunch." Rebekah replied with a small grin. Then again, by the time they are done with dessert it would probably be lunchtime tomorrow at the rate things were going. "Nope, you will just have to be a good little boy and wait for your treat." She teased him, then again, she wasn't much of a tease, cause a tease didn't give up the treats very often.

"Oh, and what exactly was your tongue doing, young man?" Rebekah asked him raising an eyebrow. If he wanted to playe the pure and innocent card, then two can play at that game, and dare Rebekah say it, but few were better then her at such things. Of course the teasing stopped when he ran her fingers through her hair and she sighed contently, biting her bottom lip. She loved the way he touched her, even if it wasn't in a sexual way like this. "Or playing X marks the spot." Rebekah said pointing to her own lips before kissing him gently on his lips. How did she get so lucky and was this gonna last? She hoped it would. She hoped that Connor never got tired of his nymph, then again, if Nik found out about Connor, perhaps the hybrid would be enough to scare Connor off.

"Uh-huh." Rebekah said with a grin. The desire always rose, for both of them. If the day ever came when it didn't, then Rebekah would be heartbroken. "There certainly isn't anything wrong with it. I just hope you feel such things for me for a very long time." Rebekah told him honestly. The future was a topic that was hardly ever brought up between them. However, someday they would have to seriously talk about, especially with Rebekah's limitations in certain areas, such as aging, dying and having children. "Awww, did someone tell you that flattery would get you everywhere?" Rebekah replied with a small grin when he said she was beautiful and humble, well beautiful was correct at least, but no one ever accused Rebekah of being humble before. Humbleness was overrated.

"Yeah, I know the feeling." Rebekah told him. At first, saying I love you was easy, almost second nature for Rebekah. But after 1000 years, it had become harder and harder to say. She found that when she gave her heart out like that, it was often returned to her after being thoroughly stomped on. "I love you too." She replied. As he began going through the basket she smiled a little. "Or both, both is good." Rebekah replied when he mentioned that he was her humble servant that could feed her fruit. Well now, that was an appealing thought, and one she certainly had before. "Oh? Well if that is the case, perhaps I shall reward my humble servant with a treat after." Rebekah hinted with a small grin watching as he opened the Champagne bottle. "Not a dropped spilled." Rebekah commented. That was a very good thing, there was nothing worse then wasted alcohol.

From the beginning, from that night out at the falls, his nymph had demonstrated a great talent for making him feel as though he was an incredibly mischievous young man. Connor had not thought of himself in such a way for centuries. The mission he had been on, the death of his mother, had driven much of the childlike side out of him when he had barely been old enough to escape such a tag. There was no room for teasing or for play when there were dark things lurking in the world, just biding their time until they were yet again able to break through to the other side of the veil to find a feast. That wasn’t to say that there hadn’t been moments of joy before Rebekah’s arrival, but there had certainly been more afterwards. Snapping his fingers in a very human gesture of disappointment, Connor murmured low in his throat. His nymph was right of course, as she usually was. Rebekah was fully aware of his own track mind, and of his ability to concentrate if the right sort of carrot was dangled in front of his nose. ”One bite?” Connor asked hopefully, knowing that the answer would be no all the same. He had to try though. For a heartbeat Connor pooched out his lower lip, then the pout disappeared beneath his grin. ”I think I could be patient for a short time. I wouldn’t want to spoil it when you’ve gone to all this trouble for today.” And knowing as he did that Rebekah was as likely to want the treat as he was, Connor thought that he might be able to hold out a while yet. His nymph might always have been right, but he wasn’t wrong that often himself.

As if Rebekah didn’t know. Fluttering his lashes, Connor attempted to stop the heat from rushing into his cheeks. He had done so much with his nymph, but still, discussing matters as boldly as this was still a move that could make the fae warrior bashful. The dark lashes fluttered faster before Connor lowered his head and preoccupied himself with the basket in his hands. ”It was doing as it was told,” Connor finally managed, that trace of wickedness remaining in his voice. Despite the heat in his cheeks Connor was very much enjoying the start to this trip. He had threaded his fingers through Rebekah’s hair, the sound of pleasure emerging once again as Rebekah sighed in response. ”That may have been it,” Connor said with some certainty. He grinned beneath her kiss before leaning close enough to press a kiss of his own to her cheek and then to the bud of one ear. ”I think this spot was still marked,” Connor murmured before drawing away. As Rebekah had said earlier, the treats would need to wait until later. First there was a permanently empty stomach to fill with what waited in this basket. Once one hunger was sated, he would be free to sate another.

At least out in their open, his desire was held under some sort of control. Being absolutely alone with Rebekah had a tendency to draw his hold upon himself thin. That wasn’t to say that nothing could happen out here but when there was a chance that they would be discovered by her family, by the brother he had yet to meet, Connor was at least able to curb himself a touch. Lifting Rebekah’s hand, Connor pressed his mouth to her knuckles in a move that was chaste and yet heart felt at the same time. ”For an eternity,” Connor promised her, his mouth brushing her knuckles as he spoke. It was not quite true, his own life span was not as hers was but there would be centuries before he grew to an age where eyebrows might be raised, where he was no longer the vigorous young warrior his nymph had fallen for. ”You do not need to fear this ending Rebekah. The greed shall always be there, as the love will be.” The fae did not fall easily, at least not those he had seen give their heart willingly. His parents love should have been one that had lasted for thousands of years. That had been ended by one single attack but that would not happen here. Connor had proven that when he had survived his mistake, when Rebekah had tended to him. ”Perhaps,” Connor told Rebekah wickedly as she suggested he had an ulterior motive. ”Still, without the pay off the words are still deserved.” Connor drew their hands back down to their sides, his mouth remaining in a curve as he led Rebekah amongst the trees. There’d only been a faint trace of that motive, at least that was what he was telling himself now.

For his nymph, the words always seemed to come far more easily. She had a way with words, one that allowed her thoughts to slip into his mind, to ring in his ears. In comparison his own always seemed halting and inadequate. Hearing the words from his nymph now Connor felt his heart swell in his chest. He would never grow tired of hearing them. ”Perhaps I should have worn the costume from the gathering at Halloween,” Connor teased as he suggested playing servant and goddess out here on the blanket. His eyes glinted wickedly as he looked up at Rebekah from under his lashes. ”I thought I wasn’t allowed to spoil my appetite.” The hazel eyes narrowed now, widening again with glee as he sent the cork from the bottle flying. Gathering two glasses in one broad hand, Connor began to fill both with the golden liquid. ”The first time my sister drank of this she could not stop giggling,” Connor told Rebekah with some glee as he offered her glass to her. ”There is nothing in our realm like it. A form of mead yes, and ale, but nothing like champagne.” Setting the bottle aside Connor held up his own glass. The sun shone through it, turning the liquid the same golden shade as Rebekah’s hair. There should be a toast he thought as he held his glass towards hers, one to celebrate their finding of one another.

"Oh I wish you could darling, but good things come to boys who are patient." Rebekah replied as he snapped his fingers and asked for one bite. Rebekah had to stand her ground after all, even if it was killing her to do so. It seemed neither one of them liked to give up control, and that was perhaps why she loved it so much, because eventually one of them always ended up giving up control, and it always led to great things. It had only been a short time but Rebekah felt like she finally found her true soulmate and she was pretty sure Connor felt the same way about her. "Nice try though sweetie." Rebekah added with a wicked grin of her own. Connor knew full well that Rebekah just didn't bend that easily, then again, if anyone could get Rebekah to bend it was Connor. His smile made her want to do all sorts of things, some she was not able to mention in polite society. "Good, cause believe me when I say I don't go to trouble for just anyone." Rebekah replied with a small soft smile. It was true, Connor should be flattered that she thought enough about him to want to set this "date" up.

"Mmm, and it is very good and talented at doing what it is told." Rebekah replied. If Rebekah didn't have an insane amount of self control she would probably want to tell his tongue what to do right now. As it were she just bit her bottom lip in an attempt to get her mind off of it. She moaned gently as he kissed her ear. "That spot did still have a mark, I am glad you finally found it." She replied with a small giggle. She loved how even the smallest of gestures just turned her into a giddy schoolgirl around him. Sometimes she felt like people thought she was just a silly little love struck girl who gave her heart to easily. It didn't matter how strong she was, the fact that she could kill almost anyone she wanted with a flick of a wrist, or the fact that she was 1000 years old and couldn't die for the most part. None of it mattered in most of their eyes. It bothered her, to a degree, but she only wanted what every "human" and most other supernatural creatures wanted, she wanted to be loved. Even Nik, even though he would never admit it, wanted this as well. So if she felt like she loved someone, she decided to tell them.

She grinned at his reply. "Good, cause eternity is a very long time." Rebekah replied. She didn't like to think about the future, cause it only brought up thoughts of the limitations they had. For one she was probably gonna outlive him by a long time. She didn't know how Faes aged, but seeing as she knew a little of his past she guessed that they lived for quite awhile, though seemingly not as long as vampires. On top of that it was impossible for her to have kids. Sooner or later one of these things was gonna ruin their happiness. That was why Rebekah preferred to live in the present with Connor. That didn't stop her from wanting to hear the words that would make her feel better every now and then and Connor always seemed to deliver. "I would not object to seeing you in that costume again." Rebekah said with a grin. Connor didn't seem that happy to have that outfit on that night, but once he realized how much Rebekah liked him in it he stopped complaining. Not many people could pull off that costume, but Connor sure did. She grinned at the thought. "Perhaps you can model it later to jog my memory?" Rebekah suggested.

"Rules are made to be bent." Rebekah said with a small grin. She smiled as Connor mentioned his sister. He didn't often mention his family. "That sounded like my first reaction to it." Rebekah said with a small laugh. "How do you think your sister would feel about me?" Rebekah asked him. Family was important to the Mikaelsons and she was certain it was important to Connor's family as well. For some reason she really wanted to know as much about his own family as she could. "Nothing like me in your realm either. You came to a great world." She told him with a small grin. She took his offered glass and held it. She held her glass towards his with a grin. "A toast.... to moonlit pools and the dirty deeds that go on in them." Rebekah said with a small grin. "For without them we wouldn't be here right now." Rebekah added seriously. Rebekah wondered what would have happened if she didn't decide to go skinny dipping that night. Rebekah and Connor could be enemies right now instead of lovers. Butterfly effects always made her question things. Her whole life was seemingly one big long butterfly effect.

Patience was something he’d never been very good with. When his family had been in the realm he’d been the one always ready to move on to the next hunt, to take the next vampire now rather than waiting for days or weeks. His father had warned him then that he was a hot head, but had been nothing compared to the impatience his nymph could bring out of him with a single word. The mock pout tried to cling on but under the weight of Rebekah’s voice it had no chance. ”I think I might need a few lessons in patience. It seems that any control I have has been quick to disappear recently.” Years of lectures should have worked to give him some by now but all of those talks faded from his memory just as fast as his patience disappeared when he was around this woman. Innocence filtered through the smile as Connor leaned in to kiss that wicked grin of Rebekah’s. ”Oh, I’m always a trier,” he murmured before kissing her forehead too. ”In case I forget to say it when I’ve eaten myself full later, I’ll say it now. Thank you for all the trouble.” Connor meant that in more than one way too. If it hadn’t been for that stomach turning realisation on their first night this union might not have lasted as long as it had. The obstacle they were forced to overcome had driven him to consider just what had filled his mind and his heart when he had stepped out of the woods to find this woman in the moonlight.

Oh, if only Rebekah had known the truth about just what his tongue could accomplish, she might not have been so complimentary about it. While she had an appreciation for what it had done for her, she likely wouldn’t have appreciated the way he’d used it to sass his father once upon a time, or his younger sister. As a sister herself Rebekah would surely side with Fionn. Resisting the urge to wriggle his tongue now, Connor contented himself with kissing her cheek and then her ear. He would behave himself since they had plans for this afternoon. ”I’ll have to mark it again for future reference,” Connor promised, touching the spot with his fingertips. It was unnecessary of course, just a few short days with his nymph taught him much he needed to know of her. She had been an open book to him from the very start. That had been a bone of contention when he had realised just what secret she had held on that first night but in time he had grown to appreciate it. There had been far too many secrets kept in this world for far too long now. Many had been intended to protect those that inhabited it from the things that also called it home but in the end lives had still been lost, hearts had still been broken. Having the truth right in front of you gave you a choice and his, from that night, had been to stay.

For his nymph an eternity could truly be the meaning of the word. His own life span was not as long, would not allow him to remain with her until the very universe itself grew old but it would surely be enough, would hopefully be enough. That was not a thought to have now though, not on a day like today when thoughts of centuries together were enough to satisfy both. ”It is,” Connor promised. ”Surely in a century or two you’ll grow tired of your pouting fae and he’ll be left to pine for a nymph who had stolen his heart.” His tone held more than a little laughter, but there was indeed a chance that at some time it might prove to be true. So he would not sit on his laurels thinking himself safe to laze his way through this. His father had always told him that a love of the sort he had shared with his mother had taken work. For him that work might, unfortunately, take the form of the costume he had worn for his nymph on the night the veil grew thin. It had been his first costume, and one that, he had been told, had drawn more than a few admiring glances. His own eyes had only lingered upon his nymph that night and he had missed such attentions but the fact that it could still make his nymph smile in such a way had him reconsidering his threat to burn it at the time. ”It might take some convincing to have me drawing it from your closet,” Connor suggested, pretending to wince. ”Perhaps mine can be one of a pair to make a reappearance. A little modelling party perhaps, just to jog my memory also.” There was a wicked glint in Connor’s gaze as he raised his brows now. He had after all been patient and well behaved so far, surely he would be rewarded for that in some form.

Etiquette had not been a notion in his own realm but in this one Connor had soon learned many of the rules that had governed the people. Some his nymph had taught him afresh, others she had positively urged him to break, as she did now with the champagne he wrestled with. ”Bent and yet not broken?” Connor enquired as he twisted the cork rather recklessly. Putting aside the question of his sister’s feelings for a moment Connor filled the glasses, passed one to his nymph before listening to the toast that filled his air. That was a tradition from his own place too. ”To moonlit pools, dirty deeds and maidens with golden hearts,” Connor agreed. Taking a sip from his glass, having tapped his own to Rebekah’s, Connor reclined on the blanket. His free hand supported his head, his long legs stretched out past his nymph as he watched her drink. ”My sister would appreciate the last,” he informed her, his voice more serious now than it had been when he had spoken of his sister just a moment before. It was not often he allowed himself to think of his sister, of his brother and father. ”She has a heart much the same, one that cares deeply and does not possess the shields to prevent it aching from the tiny wounds others can shrug off. Fionn would see the love you have offered and would likely welcome you with open arms.” Even his father would likely do so, once he had seen just how unlike the other creatures Rebekah truly was. Her form might have been similar, the thirst for blood just as strong, but Rebekah’s restraint had been admirable, her heart over ruling any other hungers.
