Much has happened in New Orleans. Without Klaus' knowledge Hayley enlisted Rayna and Ella to bring Rebekah and Hope home while Klaus was in Mystic Falls with Tatia. Of course Klaus was furious Hayley went against his wishes but in the end was happy to see his precious daughter home. Rayna and Klaus were able to take Esther and force her to take Klaus' blood which he then immediately killed her thus making her a vampire. Klaus has her locked away until he decided what he will do with her. The O'Kane's are in New Orleans and preparing to rid the city of its supernatural beasts, while the Noctis Aeternae coven prepares to go against Klaus and take Hope. Dahlia is on her way to the city to make sure that the coven does just that and that they bring Hope to her. While Klaus and Tatia made their way to Mystic Falls, Tatia reveals to him that the spell Kol did actually revealed that the twins were not Elijahs, but rather only one was his. Elijah had fathered the female child and Klaus the male. Tatia using her powers is persuaded by Rayna to transfer her into her twin sisters body so that she may once again be a witch. After realizing Tatia has great powers that seem a bit out of control at the time, Klaus decides a trip to Mystic Falls is in order. He feels taking her home will help her gain control over her emotions and her powers.*MYSTIC FALLS*
When Klaus and Tatia arrive in Mystic Falls he reveals to her that he has kept her daughter Alena alive. After resurrecting Rayna’s twin sister’s body and transferring her into it so she can once again be a witch, Tatia unlocked dormant powers from the witches and warlocks that clung to her, lending her their power when the other side collapsed. A particularly powerful warlock by the name of Dimitri, who also happened to be Rayna’s older brother, was infuriated with his sister’s reckless use of their sister’s body and gained possession of Tatia. In order to free himself he cast a dark and powerful curse upon the town, blanketing it in dark smoke and leaving everyone behind without memories of who they were after turning and driving them insane. Witches and warlocks were immune to the curse though no one had any idea who had cast it. Tatia’s memory of who’d gained possession of her was wiped from her mind. Little do they know that only a bloodline sacrifice from the one who cast the spell can break it.
The merge of Kai and Luke was the first step, allowing Dimitri to gain a foothold and force Tatia into casting the spell. Seeing the town in such chaos Kai takes full advantage of it, adding to it as only he can. Meanwhile, Bonnie is having a hard time adjusting to being back in the world and struggling between staying good and the pull of the darkness, her anger and frustration getting the better of her. With those closest to her not knowing who she is or even who they are it only serves to make it harder for her. She is trying to find a way to break the curse but it is unlike anything she’s ever seen or heard of before. Lily Hayden, a member of the Noctis Aeternae coven and a decendant of Rayna Dragomir's twin sister Rowena, was residing in Mystic Falls when the spell was cast. Recognizing the curse as a story passed down through the coven, she left for New Orleans to tell them and do what was needed to break the curse. Lily knew that the coven and a descendant or blood relative of the warlock who cast and created the spell was needed to break it. Unfortunately many of the New Orleans residents were visiting Mystic Falls and fell prey to the curse. The Dalgaard family had just arrived in town as the spell was cast and those that had triggered their curse fell under the spell.Rules of the curse
1. To break the curse a sacrifice of someone from Dimitri's Bloodline or a blood relative must be done and it must be performed by the Noctis Aeternae coven.
2. All supernatural beings aside from witches and warlocks, will have no memory of anything that happened after they were turned. And humans will have no memory of the supernatural.
3. All compulsion is gone due to no memory of supernatural
4. Anyone can come and go from Mystic Falls but those that were there during the casting of the curse will feel they have no want or need to leave town, this for the purpose of then not leaving and regaining their memories once they step across the town line.
5.By feeding on the Blood of a decendant, ie Rayna, Lily, Poppy, or Dimitri, One can regain their memories for one hour.
6.When the curse if finally broken everyone will retain their memory of what happened
